This exciting new activity is entitled "In the Middle of Nowhere" and is based on Orienteering, a sport that has been popular in Europe for over seventy years. |

Orienteering is an activity that challenges the mind as well as the body and is known as "the thinking sport" or "cunning running." It can be a stroll...or a hike..., or a race, depending on your group and their ability. The goal is for the team to work together to find their way to various checkpoints and a final destination with the help of a very detailed map and a compass. Various activities can be planned prior to the meeting itself which require team members to decide what equipment they will need and agree on a strategy for their team. |
| Orienteering meets can be held at a variety of locations in Southern California, among others: Palomar Mountain, Mission Trails Park ( San Diego), Balboa Park (San Diego), Point Loma, Big Bear/Lake Arrowhead, Julian, Idylwild, North County San Diego, Anza Borrego Desert and Palm Springs, California. Each meet is custom designed to address the needs and goals of the team. |  |

The organizers of this unique activity are Ron Rembisz, Ph.D. of Rembisz & Associates, Bill Gookin of Orienteering Adventures, and past president of the San Diego Orienteering Club, and Carrie Ellwood of Out of the Ordinary Group Adventures. |
